The official launch ceremony took place on March 1st, 2005 in New York City.[1]<\/p>\n<p>Few Americans paid attention. They should have. On June 12, 2002, President Bush had announced that America would rejoin UNESCO and \u201c\u2026participate fully in its mission\u2026\u201d[2] According to UNESCO, <em>\u201cThe Decade of ESD is a far-reaching and complex undertaking\u2026 that potentially touches on every aspect of life.
